Radhika, a doctorate in Mathematics, has won several honors for her literary creativity, including a gold medal in national level short story competitions. Her interest in story writing surfaced at an early age as she discovered that her stories were received well and left a lasting effect on readers. Inspired by the appreciation she got, she went on to publish several stories in magazines. She has recently published her book of short stories entitled ‘A Canopy of Carnations’ which was acknowledged well with good reviews. Having done her schooling at St. Joseph’s Convent and graduation from Providence College for Women in the hill station of Coonoor, her stories are inspired by the scenic beauty of the mountains and surrounding regions. Her simple language and flavor of nativity help the reader bond with the characters in her stories. After completing her post-graduation from Madras Christian College and her PhD, she went on to teach Mathematics for engineering students at renowned institutions for more than a decade and currently coaches students in Chennai while satisfying her appetite for writing.

When Sowmya invites Sivakami and Sharan for her marriage in a small Kerala village, little does she envisage that her invitation would catapult the lives of several people in different directions and change their fortunes forever! Never had Sivakami imagined in the wildest of her dreams that she would be stepping into that village again after so many years! For Sharan it meant an opportunity to gain access to some time with Sivakami and open out his heart to her. Things however don’t go as per Sharan’s plans. What started out as a casual vacation metamorphoses into a search for truth and draws him closer to Sivakami. A totally unexpected turn of events force Sharan to lend his shoulder to Sivakami as she pursues to set right the lives of the people who once meant the world to her. Will Sivakami succeed in her mission with Sharan by her side?

Contrived Connections – What an apt title for this incredible story. I never expected the plot twists.
The author adds so much to the lovely main characters as the story moves. I could not put this book down. The story was so charming and heartwarming. There are stories behind each character and the relationships contrived leaves one believing in second and renewed chances at happiness. The lovely village culture is interwoven into the story and makes one feel nostalgic and look back towards their memories. I wonder though, if the ending signals a sequel to this book – I won’t mention what it is and spoil the surprise.
Radhika has a crisp and eloquent writing style. She has envisioned and brought this story to life in this book beautifully. I am eagerly waiting for more from this author.

From the beginning to the end the story is fascinating. It flows without any confusion. In this story, we also start imagining on our own the movement of the story which may sometimes be correct or the other way.

The characteristics of characters in each CHAPTER make us understand the CHARACTERS better without disturbing the flow of the story. The descriptions of nature make us feel present in that situation and enjoy the same.
The vocabulary is vast. Quite a number of foreign words are used, especially French.
C’est incroyable ! (It is unbelievable!) Indeed the connection among various characters is amazing. What will happen to Sivagami and Sharan? That is a million dollar question. Fully satisfied having read an enchanting story. Eagerly awaiting more publications
